Pickering XSV 3000 Stylus Question

That cartridge with the original stylus was extraordinary. After market styli for those are simply OK, not great. IMO

No...

However the XSV is a *great* cartridge with any suitable Pickering stylus. There is a conical original stanton DJ stylus for it (model D89AL) that i bet you should find somewhere on the internet for a reasonable price, and it should give very nice sound (i am a witness.)

But $90 is way too much for a XSV with no stylus.
 
I have an xsv4000, nice sounding cart, not the last word in carts but not junk either. Whatever you do , DO NOT BUY the "upgraded" ed saunders stylus sold on ebay. I got three for my xsv 4000 (long story) and all three sounded awful. total waste of money. good luck.

oh and for $90 go for an ortofon 2m red, much better sounding cartridge for $10 more.
 
No, the generics will not give you what the Pickering XSV 3000 is capable of. Pickering and Stanton are the toughest generics to get right. I'd recommend another cartridge but would advise you to post what turntable or tonearm you plan on using it in so we can point you in the right direction.
