picking a stylus..how to go about it???

Hi guys, well i just cleaned up my newest TT..the cec chuo denki and it sounds not too bad, i think it can use a new stylus (don't know how long it's been there). It currently has a "omega" stylus...i went to needle doctor for cross-reference and the omega is not there, mostly audio technica, fisher and 2 denki models..so how do i choose? what are the differences and will i hear the difference?
currently, the highs are not that high and i don't have much base..sounds like i'm missing some hi's and low's...what would be a good all-arounder?
here is a link to the site (sorry, i hope i'm aloud to do this?).

You'll need to know what cartridge you have first. Pictures and any model info markings that are on it would be of great help.

alright i took some pics... what i noticed is that the shape of the end of the stylus (that goes into the cartridge) is a diamond shape..where as the ones that i saw on the side are of square shape...so they probably won't work...are there other brands that have this diamond shape? thanks

fab: Looks like a typical, average Japan cart to me, possibly made by Azden/Piezo or Nagaoka. And I wouldn't think it makes much sense to search for a replacement needle for that model, as you could get a better cartridge altogether for not much more.

Well, this is what comes up over at TurnTableNeedles.com: http://www.turntableneedles.com/Needle-612-DE_p_1219.html :)

I'd email Steve and see what he has to say. Looks like it was a relabeled AT? But you'd need to check with him? If it turn out to be an AT body, there may be lots of options. This needs a bit more looking :scratch2:

It's different. When you click on the immage, turntableneedles.com shows it from different angles. Backside doesn't match photo of OP.
