Pics of your listening space

Did a little updating of the mancave system.
Pulled out the CD changer, put in the second Denon TT and repositioned the RTR. I was just given a bunch of half track tapes made from some MFSL and direct-to-disc LPs - sounds awesome!
The Sansui G22000 has every RCA jack used - I think that's a first for me.
The LPs shown here are just the rock from A to E; there's lots more in the other side of the room.
Now I just have to deal with that wallpaper.

Ok folks, a couple questions with the pics of my system.

1. This is easy, what's my 'component' obsession?

2. How many of the make/model of the components can you identify?

This room is 5 by 5m's. It doesn't have much character yet as it needs way more vinyl from floor to ceiling:). Speakers are DIY Visaton B-200's, Amp in DIY rack is a tiny Dayens Ampino, and front end is my home made plinth/tonearm 401 with 103R. The phono stage is a Trichord Dino mk1 re-housed in a wooden case. The Tuner is a Denon TU-1500AE.

Looks like you know a thing or two about woodworking. I'm impressed!

Few changes in life and another move. GF approval. The gear is what's in my sig. The rest of the stuff I picked up along the way. First shot is where I sit. Second shot. will be media storage along with other stuff. Three and four the systems I sit and listen to.

Work In progress. Not sure how it's going to turn out. Just a cleaner and more organized listening space/ library room.

I've made some changes to my second system, which is my bedroom system and also my home theater system.

Pioneer Elite SC-27 acting as a preamp to a Sony ("pre-Esprit") Ta-n86b Class-A amp, driving Diatone DS-77hrx speakers. Sources are a Marantz TT-15s1 turntable, Cambridge Audio 640c v2 (using the DAC in the SC-27), Pioneer Elite DVD player (not pictured), Pioneer LaserDisc player (not pictured) and Playstation 3 (not pictured).

The listening position is really low to the floor (low platform bed), so the speakers aren't on higher stands. The stands they are on are actually amp stands. Only thing I could find that was both low enough, and spiked (and man are those some BIG spikes!).

Looks good, John!

You running the Sony in class A or B mode.

It's always in Class-A.

I've run it in Class B but it loses a bit of its smooth, open character. I'm always amazed at how much power this little amp seems to have, even in it's apx.18wpc Class-A mode. It's one of my favorite amps (which is, of course, why I'm running it instead of my others). My slightly modded Stereo 70 might fill in for it at some point just to get some tubes in one of my systems, but the little Sony does indeed sound 'tube like', however cliche that is.

Thanks, Art. This is the first time my secondary system has really been good enough to steal some music listening time from my main system. I really like these speakers, too (thank you Specialidiot for working out a deal on them). The SC-27 as a preamp is the pleasant surprise of the week. Has a very smoooooth sound that it lacks as an integrated amp.

Can you tell me about the cabinets the B200's are in? Nice system.

There have been a lot of speakers in my system over the years starting with-
JBL
B&W 802
Legacy 20/20
B&W 801
Wilson Watt3/Puppy2
Genesis II.5
Eggleston Andra
Genesis 200
Sound Lab U1
Dynaudio Temptations
Aerial Acoustics 20T
Evolution Acoustics MM3

I have had a lot of fun with all of them!

There are always going to be certain compromises with any speaker system and what it is used for.
I have always been a 2-channel stereo purist, even with my home A/V systems.
I am probably 40% Music/Concert Blu-Ray and 60% movies.

So far I am happy with my latest speakers and will for sure test them to the extremes.
They image very well and have tight, thunderous bass thanks to the (4) 15" woofers and (2) 1000 watt internal subwoofer amps.
There are controls on the back of each speaker to allow a lot of adjustability with the tweeter and bass output, depending on the room acoustics.
The craftsmanship in these speakers is impeccable and the finish is similar to violin lacquer.

PS- You can read about another fellow audiophile who has the same speakers and his opinions here :

Cheers!
