Pics of your listening space

Thought I would update. Post #1700:

And now with a few new bits (Kenny CDP, Tuner, DCM CX-17s, cabinet):

Corner that didn't show up so well:

PS2 for DVD/game duty and Infinity BU-1 sub to pickup at rolloff:

Tongue out cabinet pose with the LDP I forgot to mention:

That orphan Sansui is now a dedicated guitar amp enclosure... The speakers are DCM CX-17s and CX-07s anything I missed just ask. :thmbsp:

Future plans include a properly sized VCR, graphic EQ, and yes... a TT. No plans for a tape deck at the moment but classic Kenwood follows me home at the right price...

The original post requested that the photos include the seating position, so I've attached a couple of additional photos of the Soul of the House.

This, from the doorway leading in:

And this, from against the wall behind the chair:

Soul03.jpg

The rocking chair is where I sit. I know that rocking in the damn chair plays hell with imaging and the sweet spot and all that, but somehow motion is essentially necessary for me when I'm listening. The big ribbons help with that, somewhat. I also know that I'm sitting too close, but that's as far away as I can get in this tiny room. The EQ helps with that, somewhat.

The gear is as follows:

Cambridge Audio Azur 340C
Ancient JVC SEA-10 EQ (I also have an Ashly 31 band EQ that I've tried, but it has enough adjustments to make mud every time)
Sunfire Classic Vacuum Tube Control Center (i.e. preamp)
B&K M-200 Sonata monoblocks
Carver ALIII speakers
Optimus Pro SW-10P subwoofers

Cables and wires are basic Monster Cable, Dayton Audio, etc. I'm not much of a "cable tuner."

The small CD rack and the stacks scattered around are what I'm currently listening to, which I can't ever seem to keep policed. The full collection is in the cabinet against the wall. No tapes, no vinyl--which will date me somewhat.

And that's pretty much that. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to snapping a couple of photos of the home theater, and also of the Cave where the PC and the projects are.

And a nice bottle of Woodford Reserve. Excellent choice.

That's the other essential necessity of listening for me: A drink. Dark roast coffee from the French press in the morning, and bourbon, red wine or Chartreuse VEP in the evening.

LOL...I acquired the old family oak desk...trying to keep it from getting scratched...it's an ugly but effective medium..

More attractive idea might be to pickup a 1/8-1/4" thick sheet of Acrylic to lay over the top of the desk. My grandmothers desk that grandpa made has a sheet of 1/4" tempered glass on top of it. The Acrylic would give the same look but would be soniclly a much better choice.

Speakerlabfan:
Thanks for sharing the updated pics. Very, very cool set-ups you have there.
The Mcintosh MC 2205 amp room looks like a dream...:thmbsp:
You guys up north are quite busy with the gear, as the pics show...:D

On a side note, I got a line up Friday on a large Expedit like you have for record storage. ..sorely needed indeed.

Super impressive line-up of gear, Dick.

The photo of the Fraziers is kind of dark and I know a lot of guys are not familiar with these speakers, so a better picture would be cool.

Looking very nice, my friend.

Yes, that room is dimly lit with ceiling recessed lighting, which is wonderful for listening but terrible for pictures even with a lamp in there. I'll bring in a couple more lamps and get another picture of the Fraziers in that room.

I've inserted an older picture of them below - from in the backyard last summer. I've since put casters on them, so they're up off the floor, "easy" to move, pretty nifty. They sound really nice with tubes, and super efficient - the SPLs are intense. I need to do some work with turntable isolation before I can do any real phono listening with them, as the table/tone arm picks up rumble.

Thanks for the comments Mark, and, as always thanks to you pal for the assist in acquiring that MC 2205 amp last year.
