pilot 240 questions.....

I have the opportunity to purchase a fully restored pilot 240. I was considering giving it to my father for a gift for a bedroom system. The issues are.... He doesn't listen to much vinyl anymore and uses his phone and itunes. How will digital music sound through aux? I would also need to match some speakers.. suggestions?

Inexpensive DAC would help as music from phones is iffy at best. Easily could be hooked to a computer for more variety and a easy hook up. Efficient speakers are great for old tube receivers.
