Pilot Model 905 Console

I just bought a Pilot Model 905 console at an Estate sale. It has all the papers, manuals, schematics and is in pristine condition. Inside is a Pilot Series 900 receiver and a Garrard TT Type A II.
Everything works fine except the right channel doesn't have sound.
Is this piece better off like it is or would I benefit from dis-assemble and use amp and TT as stand alone and sell the cabinet?
The cabinet doesn't have a scratch on it!
I can't seem to find anything on the internet about The "Pilot Series 900"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well its solid state, so it doesn't quite fit in this specific sub-forum but honestly if the cabinet is nice, I'd probably leave it together and refurb the turntable and fix the receiver. It looks to be a nicer unit, Pilot didn't make junk, the AII is one of Garrards better offerings, and with Jensen speakers it probably sounds quite good. Its possibly just dirty controls that are causing the issue. Without a cabinet for the receiver and a base for the turntable, they're not overly useful and honestly console cabinets are usually not desired for any particular reason. Once the guts are removed, they often become wood donors.

Although it says Solid State, it is tube receiver.

I'm a sucker for oddball consoles, so I say keep it whole, especially if the cabin is minty . . .

any pic's of the whole thing ?

also, poke aro0und under the hood, you may have a schematic . . .

does it use EL84's ? I find alot of the Pilots use those output tubes . . .

Hmmm... so it is a transitional piece. SS amp and tube tuner. That looks like an interesting one worth keeping together. You could always tap into the signal path and stick a nice tube amp in there.

I took it all apart and cleaned it. Looks nice!
I do have the original owners manual, schematics, all the paper work that came with it in 1962. Everything, including paperwork, looks new.
Not sure about the EL84's.
The left channel is very faint but the right channel ROCKS. It also picks up stations very clean and clear.
I am trying to find someone that has experience with these to figure out what to replace.

Ca you swap the right-left cables at the preamp or at the amp? That would tell you where to look further...

There is a Sams Photofact folder for the 905 - it's 730-9. Not in my collection, but you can get a copy from findatube.com and other online sources.

Hey folks! Hope every one is doing fine and safe out there.
Very curious as I just found one of these Pilot 900 series and it's pretty pretty interesing. Anyone happen to know how many watts this beauty perform at??? These looks pretty rare as well. I'm waiting for mine to arrive anytime soon but after a few research I found this post as I can not find any further information on the net about this Stereo Pre-amp stereo & tuner. Seems like its PIlot Hybrid from Solid State and Tube.

If anyone around has any additional input, feel free to share your story, would love to hear about it
