Pilot stories

Did Kansei finish your SA-232? How do you like it? Comprende???:D

No longer MY 232, it's Kansei's now.
I sold it to him, without ever having plugged it in.
I sold it, because I have too much gear, and not enough money. That and I still have the 245 you sold me, and three or 4 other Pilots. :D

I haven't talked to Tom in a bit. But last time I did, he says it's singing beautifully, and he LUV's it. All it needed was some minor tweaking to get her singing wonderfully again.
There wasn't as much wrong with it as Nate had first thought, when he sold it to me.

Unfortunately for me, I have as yet to ever hear any 232, despite owning one for a few years. :tears:

I bet the 245 sounds just like it. Maybe I will bug him to trade for my 246...:-)

not really...but its easier to roll amps, when you just stick to one preamp. honestly, all my Pilots sounded great..albeit they were all recapped and re-PS'd. All great.

Saw my Pilot 240 on the inside of the Salvation Back dock. Asked the manager(we are on a first name basis) How much? $12.99! Full of Amperex and Telefunkens.
This was my first tube piece. I re-capped with PIO, and love the sound. I can never return to the Solid State I was in before.

Here's a little tidbit of information for the Pilot fans out there... Think of it as an insider secret.

The Pilot AA-903B (or 1030B as found in a console) has the same output transformer as found in a Pilot SM-245A, which is nearly identical to that of the venerable SA-232 (slightly different primary impedances). The 903B and 1030B are mono amplifiers, but you can usually buy two of them for much less than a single 245A or 232.

I'm just sayin'...
I recently acquired in AAA 903B and a 1030 D I recently acquired in AAA 903B and a 1030 D both seem to work fine but I cannot get the plate off the turntable is there a trick also if I'd like to run them in stereo do I have to just run speaker wire you seem to know a bit about these any help would be appreciated thanks Rick
