~ Pinnacle score ~

Johnny

Senior Slacker
Picked up a pair of Pinnacle PN8+. What an amazing little speaker. The bass from these has to be heard to be believed.

Bout' flippin time. I haven't run into a decent score in quite awhile.

I'll have pics if anyone has an interest.

I forgot to mention the guy has a beautiful set of the Braun L810s - I'll probably pick those up next week.

Picked up a pair of Pinnacles last year and gave 'em to my wife for her system...they are fantastic and the bass IS deep, clear and articulate. Wish I'd kept 'em.

These pics are not good - too dark and I had to use the flash. I'll try and get some detailed photos tomorrow. Also I need to clean them up a bit.

I just got off the phone 2 min ago and the Brauns are MINE !!!:banana:

Cheers~

The woofers in there look pretty beefy...nice one!

I see your kitty is also checking out the new score. :D

After seeing your thread and fondly remembering the pair of PN-5+'s that I had a couple of summers ago I quickly snatched up the PN-6+'s for $15 at the thrift today. They sound great. I think I'll have a go with mine and try my first reveneer project as faded black vinyl just doesn't do them justice.

However I'm not quite sure if your tweeters are original. Note the tweeters in mine and if you look at your pics it looks like there's a gap in the openings where yours may have been dropped in Here are pics of the PN-5's I 'll post pics of the 6 later as my camera batteries need to recharge. The tweeters in the 6's are identical

Here's some of the PN-6+ pics I pulled the tweeter and its a Polydax 8 ohm QW 74C

From the pics of both your 8 and the 5 and what appears to be glue it looks like the wood trim piece came or was pulled off both my speakers Also I'm missing a dustcap and grill logo on one

The tweets are Morel mdt30 - I'm not sure the drivers are original either - they have no name just a # and are 4 ohm . I am not terribly upset, they sound very good and the guy I brought them from was not the original owner, and even stated he thought the tweets may not be correct. I'm not sure the freq' of the Morels', but they are very very smooth. I am a bit sad tho-

Well, they were a very fair price - and well worth it to me - but I am going to see if I can track down some OEM tweets. Something tell me this is not going to be easy. We'll see.

The Morel MDT 30's are an exceptional dome tweeter OMHO, I doubt the original was any better! The specs on the Morel are very good and if intergrated correctly with the crossover should be superior to many out there.

once you get the brauns you'll forget all about the pinnacle's anyway :thmbsp: . I've been playing the 6's all afternoon and they make a really nice office speaker. I need another set of speakers like I need a hole in the head but at $15 I don't even get 1/2 a tank of gas nowadays

However I'm not quite sure if your tweeters are original.

Pretty sure they are not as you can see 4 mounting screw holes just outside the tweeter frame. Like dc270 says, what you git are quite good so I would not loose a lot of sleep over it if you like what you hear.

Thanks gents -

I was trying to nail down the woof - like I said, no name. I looked at Parts Express for 8" 4ohms drivers and the closest I could tell, just by visual, they look like Vifa. I would imagine Vifa would put their name on the product.

The # on the back is 81524 if that helps at all.

They very well could be original. The cabs are braced, and very beefy wiring inside - incredible build job. I cant snatch a look at the xovers, but I havent given up yet.

These pics may be useless - we'll see. I am going overboard here - sorry. But I really dig the sounds coming from these. I have decided to get the cabs in presentable condition, sanding yadda yadda -

Have to agree. It'll take a good bit of change to get better. Don't change them.
