Pioneer A-27 integrated on Agon

Highly collectible Pioneer Series 20 integrated. Basically a M-25 and C-21 in the same chassis. Asking all the money for a condition of 7 out of 10, but these are very rare. I'd be on it if it was local and the price was a little lower.
 
I have one of these Pioneer Series 20 A-27's and I consider it the best amp in my collection!

I also have in my collection for comparison; Sansui AU-9500, AU-20000, AU-919, CA-F1/BA-F1, Pioneer Elite A-71, A-91D, Pioneer SA-9100, SA-9900, SPEC 1/SPEC 4 and several high end receivers from; Marantz, Mcintosh, Pioneer, Sansui and Yamaha.

I'm sure you recognize that all the equipment I have is highly regarded and represents quality at or near TOTL for their time but the Pioneer Series 20 A-27 stands above them all. The Pioneer Series 20 pieces will be the very last gear I sell if ever! Even the Series 20 tuner I have sounds better than my Sansui TU-X1! It is phenominal equipment that was built by Pioneer to make a statement and it does so with authority. I have done a lot of side-by-side listening in different rooms of my house with several pairs of speakers and the Series 20 gear always seems to come out on top!

As for the one on Agon, the asking price is high for the current market but I have seen them sell for more than $1K in the past. The unit on Agon is in very nice condition too which is not always the case with these. These amps are somewhat rare and only come up for sale 2-3 times per year. If it were a serious consideration for someone and you could get the price down a C-note or more I would recommend it highly. You couldn't get mine for any price. That's how much I like it!

That is very high praise for Series 20 gear.:yes: I've had the pleasure of hearing the M-22 and the M-25 and the preamp that goes with them. I've only seen one M-22 for sale locally but it was a 220V unit so no go for me.

It is in such nice condition, but like others said, a little high, although I wouldn't mind owning one. When I looked last week, there was also a Series 20 tuner listed for $2600 which sounded pretty crazy. I have a C-21 and the M-25, but the M-25 manual said only the first 3 watts are in class A, but AB goes to 125wpc.
 
I saw the F-26 tuner on Agon also. The seller is dreaming to ask for that price in the current market. They usually sell for less than half of his asking price in a good market. It looks like a nice unit though so it might get purchased eventually if the seller gets realistic about the price.

The last F-26 on the auction site a few months ago was snatched up with a BIN less than $500 after sitting there for several hours before it was purchased. I was busy painting my kitchen that day and saw it on a completed listings search that evening or it would have been mine for that price.

I have the other Series 20 model, the F-28, but the F-26 is supposed to be the better of the two. The guy I bought mine from also had an F-26 that he kept because it sounded better to him. It must be something special to hear!

Your M-25 should be Class A up to 30 Watts and then Class AB to 125. I read somewhere here on an AK thread that the manual might be wrong (typo?). The A-27 is supposed to be a combination of the C-21/M-25 and it operates in Class A up to 30 Watts and then switches to Class AB up to it's max at 120. I really doubt I have ever pushed mine past the 30 Watt point so I can't say if it makes a difference in sound quality when it switches over. Those are great units you have, enjoy!
 
I don't mean to poop on this thread by any means but I owned one and tried it with several differrent combinations of gear and found that the low end wasn't to my liking. Very sloppy on the bottom end. I prefer a much tighter bass response and the amp just couldn't deliver. It was fun to have but not a keeper.

Thanks for mentioning that Sage. I was wondering why it would only be 3wpc when the M-22 puts out more than that in class A. But I haven't pushed it hard enough to hear any difference between class A and AB. I tried that with the Yammie M-80 before and didn't hear a difference either.

A couple of AK'er mentioned about the performance, etc, but I'll be keeping the M-25 for a while for the looks if nothing else (nothing looks like the M-22/M-25 in the solid state world.)
