Pioneer CP-300 speaker stands for DSS-9 speakers

krowmagnum

Compulsive speaker freak
Found something I haven't seen before and can't find any info on. A pair of Pioneer speaker stands that came with a pair of DSS-9 speakers I picked up today. The stands look like they were made for the DSS-9 speakers.

I finally found a pair of DSS-9's and the woofers need foam but the cones are undamaged. I can't wait to get these speakers foamed and hook them up.

Covered in dust and spider webs but in pretty good condition. These gotta be pretty rare.

I got the speakers and stands cleaned up and here's some photos of my newest toys. Now to get the new surrounds and figure out where to put them and which speakers get replaced. Ohms or Time Frames.... Decisions, decisions... And I was pretty satisfied with my current line up too. It never ends. It seems I will always find something "else".

Ive heard of these before, but know they are pretty rare. Very pretty speaker, late 80's-early 90's? How do they compare to an HPM-100 for example? Those stands look great too.

My dad has a pair of DSS-9s. They're great units to listen to, but I don't have too much to draw a comparison with. I like those stands though - I've never seen a pair before, either. They should provide a good amount of enjoyment for sure.

The cabinets of the HPM-100's are heavier than the DSS-9's. The wood veneer on the 100 is much nicer than the vinyl veneer on the DSS-9's too (they look great in photos)but just looking at the driver specs and how well they are made they should kick the HPM-100's ass without too much effort. Also, the 100's and 900's are the exact same cabinet size but the DSS-9's are a little smaller.

I'll do a real comparison with the HPM-100's and HPM-900's when I get the surrounds replaced. The HPM-900's are a big improvement over the 100's and I'm hoping the DSS-9's will be a similar improvement over the 900's. Now I just need a Spec amp and I'll be set.

I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to do anything with the speakers but I am looking forward to hearing them.

I'll say. I've heard Dennydog's pair of DSS-9's and they put my HPM-100's to shame. If I were ever to run across a pair on the cheap, I'd snag 'em in a heartbeat. :music:

Resurrection of an old dead thread....

I finally got the DSS-9's refoamed and boy are these speakers impressive.
Compared to HPM-100's ? No comparison.
Compared to HPM-900's ? The DSS-9's kick their butt.
Compared to HPM-1100's ? The DSS-9's kick their butt also.

If I only had some HPM-150's or 1500's to compare the DSS-9's with.
Someday...

HPM-200's ? I can dream...
TAD's ? Never gonna happen so why dream...

Sweet sounds at any levels. Low, mid and crazy loud the DSS-9's sound very good. I've owned some very nice non-Pioneer (Klipsch, JBL, Snell, etc..) speakers over the years and the DSS-9's are my all time favorites without a doubt.

If any of you ever get a chance to listen or buy a pair don't pass them up.
