pioneer cs-66 cap replacement

Just picked up some pioneer cs-66 speakers and need some help on recapping. one speaker works fine, the other only the mid range works, no sound coming out of sub. I think i need a cap replacement. can anyone tell me the values of these caps, the volt rating and where to buy? I have the schmatic which shows a 2uf, 3uf, and 5uf, but no volt rating. also the caps have wires that come out of each end. can anyone help on this. thanks:scratch2:

First off, have you removed the "suspect" drivers that aren't working and tested them by themselves? As far as the voltage goes, most newer poly caps from Solen, Dayton, etc, will be 100v and up....which is fine. Some of the older electrolytics were 50v to 100v. There's nothing wrong with higher voltage on caps...that's just where they're tested safely to.
 
should i use poly caps or go back with the electolytic caps? where do i buy these? does frys electronics sell these? thanks for the quick reply.

P.E. has them (AK sponsor) as well as other suppliers. I use Erse myself. Some say Lytics make the speakers more original, but I've never read an A/B that proved this "theory". I'd stay away from Lytics since they don't last and drift in value.
 
Places like Madisound (I get Solen and Bennic from them), PartsConnexion, Sonicraft, and Parts Express are some of the big suppliers and where most here seem to order from. I use Parts Express when I need lesser expensive caps like their Dayton 5% poly line....good value and sound for the money. Solen caps are my first choice and I get them from Madisound or Parts Connexion because they are cheaper and generally have more choice. I concur with Copa....stay with poly caps for those smaller values as they don't cost too much and they stay closer to their rated values...and last longer.
 
I don't think your problem is in the crossover if you don't have sound from the woofer. The only thing in the crossover that has any thing to do with the woofer will be a small coil. Probably between 1.0 and 1.5mH. I assume one cap for the mid and two for the tweeter. I personally don't like the Solens, especially on vintage Pioneer speakers. I use the Daytons most of the time and have had great success with them. They break in fast too. Parts Express---

They are all on sale now so you're lucky. Under $10 for both speakers. I also disconnect on leg of all resistors and test them. Don't forget to clean any pots or switches. Check the woofer out first.
