Pioneer CS-88 vs. CS-88A

I have a set of what I think are the CS-88s. They are really sharp looking, and appear to be in great shape. I know the contacts and pots need to be cleaned because when I tested them briefly, there was a lot of scratchiness. I was trying to see what they might be worth as I got them for virtually nothing. I noticed the CS-88As seem to be considerably more valuable.

I'm not asking which speaker is worth more, but what about the CS-88A makes it 'superior' to the CS-88? From what I read briefly, there's a slight difference to the woofer. If that's it, can one conceivably get woofers from a CS-88A and turn the CS-88s into a 'A' model? I think these speakers might be the first I 'recap' as the entire process will be first time through.

I have a pair of 88a's and if I'm not mistaken the 88's are a completely different speaker design. THey have less drivers (which may not be a bad thing) that are not the FB labeled cones of the 88a's and they are ported. Never heard a pair though so I can't comment on sound differences.
