Pioneer CS-99A drivers.

I'm currently putting a pair of CS-99As back to original. The 3.5" and 4" mids had been swapped out with open units. As I'm sure everyone knows, the correct parts (12-708F and 10-708F) are hard to find and pricey. I ran across a 12-701F from a CS-88.

Can anyone say definitely that this will swap over and be correct?

the 12-701F is 5" and 16 ohms according to oaktreevintage
the 12-708F-2 is 5" and 8 ohms and the 10-708f-3 is 4" and 16 ohms
no idea on hole arrangement or performance.

http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/ was no help in finding alternatives
Only thing I can suggest is searching and more searching

i just got off of ebay as i too have cs99a's. you sure are quite right, those people seem a few slices short of loaf so to speak. they want 150-200$ for them each! you will better off getting another set of complete speakers i feel.

OOF, that's crazy money they are asking. I had no idea.

Before you finish the job, remove the crossovers and replace the crappy blue and white push-button wire connectors. Even if they appear to be in good shape, be aware that they have a very poor connection to the p.c. board.
