And you're wise not to, Pacific. Sorry to resurrect this ancient thread, but I have the same issue now with my (long performing reliably) 1000. I see alternatives out there, but I'm not sure if I'm buying a pig in a poke, because the Panny originally discussed isn't available and the Mabuchi RF-510T doesn't appear to be either. I HAVE new old stock (about a half dozen of them) Mabuchis for my 1250's in storage (minus the Pioneer housing) and I have much newer replacements for my 93 (ditto). What I don't have is anything that drops in for the 1000. I have the motor about 3/4's of the way apart, and it's still frozen solid. (The circumstances are spooky, BOTH the 1250 and the 1000's capstan's went South at more or less the same time.) I haven't popped the bonnet on the 1250 yet, but I'm not as concerned, as I know it's the belt (right capstan spins happily along because it's the motor shaft) and I have about a half dozen of belts as well, some of them NOS from Pioneer.) I'd really appreciate any advice, SOMEBODY'S got 'em, because the machines are ankle deep on the bay.....
