Pioneer CT-F 700 Tape Deck.

I recently purchased a Pioneer CT-f 700 cassette tape deck. It is one beautiful deck with all of the meters and the lights. It works very well for it's age. The only problem that it has is that once in a while the rewind doesn't work. It seems to be when there is more tape on the left side sprocket. If there is more tape on the right side sprocket, then it will rewind without any problems. What do I need to look at to fix this unit? It really sounds great when recording or playing back tapes.

Thanks,

DaWoofer & Captaingamez, thanks for the responses. I will get a belt kit on order. This is a nice cassette deck and everything seems to work quite well except for the above mentioned problems. It plays beautifully. Right now I am listening to a Classics IV tape and it sounds wonderful.

Thanks for the help!

those decks really do sound great, especially for a 2 head. i wanted to compare mine to my CT-F1000 before i sold it but the belts started slipping so i couldn't, i still need to get the belts for it.

As has already been mentioned, the rewind defect is due to a defect reel hub drive idler (not the belts). It's a good idea to replace the belts due to the age of the deck, but it won't fix your specific defect.

Same as the ct-f1000 idler clutch. I sent mine to markthefixer, you can ask him if he does the same thing for the ct-f1000
