Pioneer CT-f1000 Help - NEW here

Hi everyone. So I just purchased the subject cassette deck. I have been looking for a walnut pioneer deck for a long time. Unfortunately I was duped. The deck does not operate properly. The seller is less than empathetic and argues with me. He claims he has video proof and paperwork from a technician but refuses to share any of that information with me. I have started a return. But is there potentially a quick fix for my problem? I have tried multiple tapes. I push play, it goes for 2 seconds and then stops. When I click FF and reverse, I hear a noise, but won't turn. Any help is appreciated.

I had a similar circumstance with an Otari reel to reel. Lucky Reverb return process went smoothly although I l know the seller wasn't happy.
Too often I think sellers are actually resellers looking to turn a profit and really are taking the word of the eprson they bougt it from. Hope you get refunded.
Dont settle for a partial refund to have it fixed.

I don't think I'm paranoid by nature, but without personally knowing the seller, I assume any cassette deck being advertised needs repair. Stories like this one come up all the time. Sellers say they've "refurbished" or "checked all functions" but too often they are just hoping a sale will stick because the thing powers on and lights up.

Not many of these work for long or at all if they haven't been serviced by now; belts, clutch, microswitches are all known problems with clutch being the biggest pain in the ass. I'll bet belts & switches need replacing, you'll find out after that if the clutch is buggered or not.

Send it back, it wasn't serviced, the guy's not telling the truth. If you're technically inclined you can do the repairs yourself, but the whole transport has to come out to do this.

I did all the belts and micro-switches on mine several years ago - I am no technical guru and was able to do all the work. It has worked flawlessly ever since - very nice deck when sorted out.
