Pioneer CT-F1250 (and CT-F950) weird front screws

Hi everyone,

I just picked up a CT-F1250 and a CT-F950.

The CT-F1250 is almost perfect, except for a dent in one of the front panels (panel 2 in pic below):



I can use the one from the CT-F950, but am a bit stumped by the weird screws used to fix it to the rest of the front panel (circled screws in image below):



Does anyone here have experience disassembling this, or anyone know what screwdriver to use?

It looks like you need a "security bit" for those. Might try a larger hardware store. I believe you can order a set from Amazon if you wish.

Yes, those are bi-pin security screws. If you're feeling ambitious and have a beat up flathead driver and a file... you can go to town and make your own

Watch repairmen have a special spanner with point on it for things like that. You can also use a snap ring pliers, but it's easy to slip and scratch the front panel.

In the meantime I found out that this thingy is called a "spanner" screwdriver

How did you go with those bi pins ?

Were you able to locate a tool or did you fashion one yourself ?

Pin Pliers

I had a rummage around and found a snap ring pliers kit. It has interchangeable tip pieces.
I will have to sacrifice one of those tips as the need to file it down is required to suit the tiny spots on the security screw.

Yes I agree. I think taping up the surround would be a good idea.
Probably use masking tape or similar.:thmbsp:

Ok. So since my last post I managed to find a suitable file and managed to file the two points to make it a viable tool for this purpose.
Works a treat.
