Vinyl Seance
listens to doom loud
I searched the internet up and down for this and haven't found anyone else with the same problem.
When in normal play mode the the take up reel sputters really fast . the teeth of the tape cannot keep up with the tension off the take up reel so the tape teeth slip out of the take up reel and the reel spins its ass off. this happens on about 50% of my tapes the other %50 play fine with only occasional sputtering. with no tape in the player and me testing the play vs ff functions the take up reel seems to be spinning at the same speed. I dont know if this normal but it seems to me play speed should be slower than FF speed. Anyhow i have not found any solution for this problem on the internet.
ive gone through this machine twice cleaning, changing belts, cleaning motors, lubing , replacing capstan rubber etc . Two techs here in pittsburgh have checked this out and claimed they fixed it only for me to get it home to find out its not true. This has something to do with this sputtering thing only happening on %50 of tapes. it seems to not like brand new cassettes but plays most vintage ones no problem.
any help or suggestions would be most awesome!
