Pioneer CT-F500 Door Won't Open

Isaac C.

Cat Hoarder
Hello everyone, I'm servicing a CT-500 for my grandfather and for some reason the door will not open when the Stop/Eject "piano key" is pressed. However, I can open the door from the back by pressing down on the lock lever. It's almost as if there is nothing connecting the "piano key" to the locking lever. After pressing play, the stop function works, but not eject. I am seeking advice before further tearing into the unit. It was working fine and all of the sudden it quit working. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I have been looking at the service manual but nothing is standing out to me that would cause it not to work.

If I remember correctly, there is a connecting bar near the capstan wheel on the back. When I replaced the belts I had to remove that metal plate that holds the capstan wheel, this bar is somewhat held in place by the metal bracket and when you remove the plate, it comes out of place. That's why the door won't open or close, so you have to reseat the connecting bar.
