Pioneer CT-F750 Melted Belts

I purchased a CT-F750 Cassette Deck knowing that I would have to change the belts. When I opened it up I found the belts were melted onto the rollers and capstan. every time I try and touch the belts, I come away with a mess on my fingertips. Almost looks like a bit of tar. What is the best way to clean up this mess?

I just got that same deck from a friend he had a neighbor give it to him. It is exactly the same way. I hope it can be cleaned up it makes a mess. A tiny piece fell out on the floor and it got everywhere from my socks. Wifey didn't like me too much.
 
Try and get as much of the old goo off and use Q-tips dipped in alcohol to clean the remaining residue. Plan on using a lot of Q-tips and alcohol. Hope this helps,and good luck.
 
Hi! Followed your suggestion and it worked like a charm. I bit messy on the hands but it really looks great now. All I need to do now is order the belts and I should be in good shape. All the electronics seem to be working. Can't wait to see this deck running. Thanks

when you get your belts the instruction left out the 1 screw in the bottom dead center of the motor assembly.

Does anyone have the instructions? The belt kit I ordered did not come with instructions and I have not found a good video online showing how to remove the cassette unit to change the belt. Thanks so much!
