I posted a couple of weeks ago about my CT-F9191 that has been sitting for a while, and is now not operating properly. The basics are this, FF works fine, Rewind does not, Play seems to function properly but I'm not getting any sound. Also, with no tape installed and the presence switches depressed, REW seems to work; just not with a tape in. I picked it up about 3-4 years ago. At that time, I had a local audio tech check it out for me. He replaced the transport, all belts, and cleaned and lubed everything. Since then it has operated flawlessly. I probably haven't used it in about a year or so. I find it difficult to believe there is any major mechanical faults considering the work that was done not long ago. So, my hope is that it just needs a good cleaning and lube service. I've worked on a few pieces of audio equipment but never a cassette deck. Does anyone know of a resource for a step by step guide to a general cleaning and maintenance service? Or could someone, possibly, write one up for me? I realize the latter may be a lot to ask. I'm honestly just sure where to start. Is there anything else I should check out while I'm at it? Anyone have any other theories as to the cause of my issues? Also, as far as lubrication for moving parts, what brand and or type of lube should I use? Is there a specific industry standard?
