Pioneer CT-F9191 with broken belt

Hey all,
I'm looking to purchase a nice CT-F9191 to add a cassette player to my rig. I found one that appears in decent shape from the picture...asking $150 with a broken belt. Don't know which belt yet.

It will be hard to determine if everything else is working with the broken belt, so was wondering if this price is reasonable given the unknowns....and worth taking the next step to go look in person.

I've read on other forums that the 9191 belts can be very problematic.

It's an hour or so drive to look at it which I'm open to doing.

There is a plastic clutch in the transport for these that breaks frequently, that causes them to fail. It's a lot harder to source than a belt. I'd be tempted, but I'd talk myself out of it (next time; I'm sitting on a dead one as it is).

Thanks jberger. I tend to agree...too many unknowns. I'm still going to talk to the seller and see what he knows...or doesn't.

The belt is probably not simply broken, due to its age it (or they, I can't imagine there's only one belt) likely have turned to goo, which means you'll need to do a bit of cleaning.

Thanks swechsler! He had a picture with the broken belt sitting on top of the deck, but you're right...there are 3 belts in this machine, and there are probably more problems lurking inside. I passed on it due to the price and all the unknowns.
