im trying to fix this deck which i came over some days ago. it as very dusty when i got it. i got some sound from it but it needed new belts and work on the motors too.

as i after worked it a bit..put it together again and pushed the power on i saw the beautiful blue fluoroscan coming to the display as expected but then a second later it went all dead!:sigh:....

now evrything seems dead...the motor the display...what the f...? happened?

strange thing is when i put power on now the idler always takes a spin to the left rollers but upon that...dead, and display fluoroscan too dead:...hmm...

any thoughts?

I cant get it to rew/for or play anymore...onlything it does is when i press the tape sensor? located on the right side of where the cassette is put. then the idler moves tothe left and takes a few spins. when i push play nothing happens..the heads dont lift the idler is quite and totally still . same on rew/for. nothing happens

have worked the motor many times still this same happens....what can be wrong? :boring: .

everything works now except i cant get it to play.it just dont have power to move the tape. ...capstan motor? hey ..confusing...what motor is for play?

the capstans dont move always when I hit rew/for/play...still it rewinds/forwards. capstans must move for play right? play is not working ,is a belt or capstan motor failure i guess? what are the two belts for?

one strange thing...when i hold the tape sensor with finger and push play it plays(without cassette now) and plays strong it seems, but when i put a cassette there it does move only very very little and to the wrong direction too! but to the right direction without tape.....argh this is so argh...any advise?

First off, start with the basics, the belts and idler tire and pulley. All are rubber and dry out, rot or get hard. Wjoe is the place to get them without guessing.

my pioneer ct-f950 runs waaaaaaaay to fast in play mode....cant slow it down anything from screwing the capstan motor adjustment.....its a "I" screwdriver right?

any tips? :scratch2:

Check the power supply voltages, perhaps there is a fault and they are too high?

u mean the t500MA ´s ..they look good..ive changed 2. not too high.

still the tape rolls waaaaay too fast...cant even slower it from the capstan motor hole....hmm...screwdriver "I" right?........

Check your voltage supply setting on the deck. If you have a Universal model (European) it may be set at the wrong voltage setting for what your household/country setting voltage is.

it´s set at 220volt........can i try the 240volt?..or is it dangerous

here in europe its supposed to be at 220volt but i just googled 230 is ok also...however it can only be set to 220 and 240....so can i try 240? :P

why is it running way too fast in PLAY mode?...cant slow it down from the capstan motor.. tried several belts ..a really tight also but still running way too fast.....i have also tried 3 different motors but same result. ...strange :scratch2:

Well, multiple entreaties to "check the power supply voltages" seem to have gone over your head.

get a service manual, and study it so that you can find the RWR-097 power supply board.

Get a voltmeter, set it to read 200 volts DC full scale, connect the black lead to pin 2 of the board and the red lead to pin 1 of the board.

It should read 13.5 volts DC. post what it does read. This is the voltage that eventually drives the capstan motor.

If this does not make sense, even after studying various repair threads, you should take the deck to a qualified repair technician.

at the beginning of this project i could have it playing tapes somewhat at normal speed but then suddenly the speed slowed down or fasten up...so you think this still is a"power supply voltage" problem?
