Pioneer CT-F950 Recording Problem

A bad head is pretty uncommon, usually it is wear. It would be interesting to see what the inductance is between L&R section of the head.

I examined the head with a jewelers loupe and could not see any evidence of wear. How is the inductance measured? Are there other tests that can be performed on a head?

Inductance is measured with a LC meter. For curiously measure the resistance of the record head windings L vs R with your ohm meter.

Good idea. I also thought that I might have a bad "wire" and not a bad head. I've got the deck put back together, but I will revisit when I get the time.
