Pioneer DC-Z81

Hi!
I need an advice. My knowledge about audio equipment is poor maybe even disastrous. A guy offered me amplifier Pioneer DC-Z81, Pioneer tuner (can't remember which model), Sony multi disc and speakers Dantax STR 700. Of course, equipment is used.

Well, to me those names don't mean a thing. So, what do you say? Is it worth buying? I will use it at home.

From what I can find, this is a BPC all-in-one system. Very Lo-Fi- I would avoid it unless it's free...

Hi, i owned a Pioneer DC-Z83 for a year and a few months, all i can say to you is it is 2X50W rms at 8ohm, the tuner you are talking about is the Z93 probably(assuming same as mine since your model has a few minor changes over DC-Z82 and DC-Z83), it is not as lo-fi as previously said, it sounds good for what it is, a 50 watter, do not expect a punchy sound as a high-end model, but it has quality, and you can use the integrated equalizer to boost from 60Hz forward, with the eq it is able to deliver a good sound, i can talk about my dc-z83, it has been once for 16 hours or even more playing at very high volume levels with 3 floostanding speakers on a ceiling, everyone of my friends enjoyed that little amp, altough noticing it did not have that "punch" could still play loud enough to be heard more than 700 meters away, because the owner of this ceiling(father to a friend of mine) lives at least that distance away and called at night for my friend to turn down the volume cause "he was hearing in his house well enough to know it was our weekend party", reliability is also a positive, since it didn't blew up nor went in smoke after so much time blasting music in it.

It is Low End HiFi, but it is pioneer and it still has musical power worth more than some 2nd choice brands in the 50watter range, it is capable of 2X50W rms at 8ohm,so it fills to very satisfying levels small rooms(don't use it in a great room as it will be driven very hard and it will be difficult to achieve a good listening level without distortions, only thing i have to say bad about my DC-Z83 is that it lacks bottom end punch, EQ helps a lot, but doesn't do miracles, building quality is good as it is Japan made(at least mine). I gave 30€ for mine and was satisfied for that amount of money the result that i got, i wish mine was for free, would be as happy as a bee in a honey hive

if it is for free you will not regret to say yes and grab the opportunity, hook it up
with two 100W floorstanding speakers and you'll see for yourself that half volume knob and they will be pumping sound, mine made the computer desk and keyboard rattle and my speakers were not of a good quality brand...just don't plan on using it in large rooms, since it has modest power, it will be hard to fill the room with sound to a decent hearing level (surely you will clip your amp to achieve a satisfactory listening level)
