Pioneer DSS-9

They did...and they are even rarer than the DSS-9. They're the CS-V900D. That's what I have, actually. Identical to DSS-9 except for the real wood veneer and the woofers being magnetically shielded.

Thanks Skylab for adding something else to my wishlist :D
Were those sold in the US ?

I forgot about those guys!
The cabinet weight is substantially heavier in the literature also.

I'm glad TV's aren't CRT anymore.

So...fiftyone50...when are you going to ship me the DSS-9 cabinets I bought from you almost two months ago????

The CS-V900D weighs eight pounds more than the DSS-9. That's interesting. I wonder where all that weight comes from. Could that figure include the shipping carton? Skylab, I hope you got your cabinets.

Shielding and real wood veneer is the source of the additional weight.

Actually, no, I never did. The guy stiffed me. Last time I ever pay via money order. Lesson learned - AK membership isn't enough to guarantee honesty. So I still have a full set of DSS-9 drivers looking for a home. Fortunately, my CS-V900D's are still rocking the house ;)

From his profile: "fiftyone50 was last seen:Apr 1, 2015"

Little bit of irony there. Sorry to hear you got burned, but maybe you'll come across another pair of V900D cabinets. I know I'd love to find a pair. The woofers are so delicate and valuable I bet there are quite a few empty cabinets floating around.

Loser central there. Sorry for your loss but thanks for alerting the rest of us.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I figure at some point surely I will run into a nice pair of cabinets that I will snag. I agree, with the woofer surrounds prone to rot and the carbon graphite cones prone to cracking of the surrounds are not supporting them, I figured I would see more than I have. But for me it's no huge loss as this would just be for a second pair :)

Well, I guess wonders never cease...because somehow after my posting this today, word got to AKer fiftyone50 about this post, and I got a call from him today...and a REFUND!!! I'm very happy. Was cool that he made good...made my day!!!

I like to get a pair of those CS-V900D's

Me too. These are so sweet they deserve better than vinyl, nice as it is.Congrats to Skylab. Reviving sleeping threads can have unforseeable benefits.

I've added quite a bit of internal damping and stuffed the ports with felt and for me anyway, they sound much better.

Are you still in search of DSS-9 cabs?

Hey folks -- no idea if anyone is still here -- but I just happened on a beautiful pair of Pioneer CS-V900D (similar to the DSS-E 10 and 9). Mids and tweeters seem in good shape, but the 12" PS woofer surrounds are dead. One woofer cone has a small crack, and the other woofer cone is completely shot. I can source the surrounds, but I'm having difficulty tracking down the right cones, which should be a 12" graphite cone with ribs. The old Pioneer part number is 30-784A for the woofer.

Any one happen to have a woofer, ribbed cone to these?

If not, any ideas on a shop that might? Striking blanks so far.

Thanks!

Hi d3lta,
Cool that you found the Pioneer CS-V900D speakers.

I have the drivers for a pair of Pioneer DSS-9 speakers which i think are similar to your speakers, but the woofer cones are badly broken, ... I was wondering if you found replacement woofer cones for your woofers?
Thanks,
Best Regards, Dean
