Pioneer Elite SC-67 HDIM passthrough

hello, this is my first post and I have, what I hope is, a simple question. I have been using a needlessly bulky and cumbersome home AV system for years now. I like big speakers and get a kick out of turning them up occasionally but for the most part what i have is unnecessary. I would like to simplify and have become interested in a sound bar instead of my 3.1 Cambridge Soundworks speaker system. (I'm looking at the Bose SoundTouch 300).

What I would like to try and avoid is using my TV for input switching. I have a Pioneer Elite SC-67 (which also seems needless feature packed and complicated for my needs) but it works great and it can take all my sources and output to my TV.

I figured I could just have the HDMI Out go to the Bose soundbar and everything would work fine but I have been warned that the SC-67 will apply it's audio decoding, then send that to the soundbar where the Bose will attempt to decode and there can be interference and/or significant delay.

So, I wonder if there is true HDMI passthrough on the SC-67. In the Audio Parameter Menu there is an option to toggle HDMI between AMP or 'Through'. Can anyone confirm that, if I choose 'through', it will take the input from any of my sources (all I use is HDMI in and HDMI out) and pass that straight though the receiver without any processing? If this is the case, I think I should be able to use the receiver for just the input switching and use the soundbar for audio... am i right?

Also, if anyone has a better idea for how I can simplify, keep decent sound quality, and ditch my large speakers (and maybe even my SC-67) but not use the TV for input switching I'd be happy to hear suggestions.

Setting the receiver to "though" should do as you say.

However, that does seem like a lot of receiver to use simply as a source switcher.

There are remote control HDMI switchers for real short money.

no question about it, it's way too much receiver to use just for source switching but I already own it so, unless there is a better alternative in terms of quality or other functionality, I might as well keep the receiver and not buy anymore hardware. And I'll have the receiver in case I ever decided to revert back to large speakers or desire other functionality. thanks for the response
