Pioneer HMP 100 wiring confusion

Hello, i know there have been threads and even schematics available for these speakers for proper wiring, however i find different answers from googling. I am now drawing a blank to which wire goes where . On the database i see blue and red wires are positive while green and yellow are negatives.

From here i see a pattern all colors are positives while white is all negatives.

I hope both links work if not please tell me. So can anyone confirm how this works, i realize there are different models perhaps and schematics (swn-117) versus (second link posted?) If so where am i able to identify which proper wiring is for my speakers.

I would love any info on this as i thought i had the proper wiring from one thread only come to realize wiring is different somewhere else.

Thanks in advance : )

Wiring color schemes vary from speaker to speaker. Just follow the schematics for the HPM-100 (from the first link in your first post)...which, by the way, is consistent with the information provided in the link in your second post.

Having recapped a pair, I think maybe the PC board of the crossover has tiny print on it, showing which wire goes where. ("LF +", etc.)

I have two spare networks. I'll check them out. I'm wondering if there may have been a difference in the wiring 100w vs. 200w. I believe you are correct about the markings on the networks.

Thanks for the replies, ya i went ahead with the wiring of the manual posted on this site.I did some more research what i found is that the 100 watt and 200 watt were wired differently...i think... OR there are 2 different models of wiring. I found the model swn 117 and swn 158. Both are hpm but the wiring is different. For the 117, the super tweeter and mid have reversed wiring in terms of the color. White was postive while colored were negatives. On the 158 all colored wires are positive.

So again not sure if this because 1 is 100 watt and the other is 200 watt, OR just diferent wiring all together dependant on the speaker model number.

Have a look at the link

Switch back and forth between the 2 HMP schematics. You will notice the difference.

There are apparently two different crossover designs, with the only difference being the phasing of the super tweeter and mid.

Note that at the bottom of each schematic there is an indication that each is applicable to both the 100 and 200 watt version.

While I don't recall what I used, I do know that when I had the wrong polarity the difference in the mids was astonishing. It's almost as though all the sounds in that range appeared to sound 10-20' "behind" the rest of the sounds. Really messed with the imaging completely.

Where did you see that each is applicable? I only saw 100/200 watt version on the bottom in one picture. I believe thats the min 100 watt and max 200 watt input not 100 watt versions and 200 watt versions. Just like the 100 watt is listed as 50/100 watts on the back of the speaker.

Yes, you're probably right.

Look, they're not going to blow up either way. Try one way, see how it sounds. Then try the other, and see how that sounds. Go with the one that sounds best.
