That was my thought as well. I suppose the port rings could have been removed for whatever reason? Not my favorite speaker but to each his own. I guess the next timeI find a pair for $200 I will reconsider buying them.

Someone REALLY wanted a pair of HPMs!!! Not me, but God bless them... OTOH, I have gladly paid top dollar or even over market price for something that I really wanted, and doesn't show up too often--not to that extreme, but I've been there to a certain degree.

I've never seen a pair of 200 watt rated HPM100's without the aluminum trim ring on the port. No picture of the back of these makes me wonder if they were the 100 watters? No big deal either way but that's a nice price for the seller.
 
the trim rings are aluminum in color but plastic in compstition. it also is an easy way to distinguish a 100 watt version from a 200 watt.... for anyone wanting a definitive answer
 
And to think I sold a pretty damn near immaculate pair for $300.Hope they are his/her grail speakers because I don't think you'll ever get that money back.
 
Wow, you gotta really want HPM-100s to pay that price. $1200 in a different direction could easily result in superior sound quality, and this is coming from an HPM guy!

Agreed.I had three pair and as much as wanted to I couldn't get into them I couldn't.

I sold a pair of Pioneer CS-99a's about 10 years ago for $150. My friend still owns them. They were nearly perfect, but who was to know?
 
i agree with savatage, if i really want something bad i dont care what it cost i buy it, although in this case for that money i buy klipsch heritage
 
Was there a best offer on these ?I just sold a receiver on eBay had it listed as BIN 450.00 I accepted a lower price but when I link to the auction it says sold for 450.00 which is not true ?

However I hooked them up to my Yamaha CA-400 amplifier and I'm finding it difficult to unhook them and write out the listing. They are powerhouses and they just sound so large and full. Life choices are difficult. $100!!!!!!! For a used coffee table.....shaking my head.

Don’t think you landed the best deal ever on 100’s. I was buying a pair of Boston Acoustics A400’s with boxes for $100, which I believe to be a much better speaker, when I spotted a pair of the 200w 100’s in the corner. He said “you can have them”. They got garage duty for a couple weeks before I cleaned them up and sold them for $175. They were gone in half an hour. Glad to make someone else’s day as they paid for the 400’s which are still in the family.
