pioneer hpm-1100

Hello,

I have some pioneer hpm-1100 that i like very much!

Nevertheless i feel like upgrading my sistem and I start thinking the speakers are the weekest point...

My sistem is at the time :

Thorens 147 jubilee with Grado Gold
Ming Da mc-7R tube pre amp
Electrocompaniet aw-100 power amp
Pioneer HPM-1100 speakers

I am very happy with the sound i got, i have quite a big room and I like the hpm but i havent really heard many other different speakers and I wonder perhaps getting some more modern better sounding speakers??

anyway i am just looking for some feedback on this system and what you guys think about it. what to change perhaps? some other speakers??

If you changed your speakers out, wouldn't you have to change your name on here?

Seriously....I think the HPM-1100's are the best of all the HPM lineup for all around use. Much, much, better than the 100's, etc. I'd love to have a pair of the 1100's.

There are lots of ways to look at this. I was interested in comparing Pioneer speakers and have several. So my view is more of a collector than best sound. What I discovered is they all sound good. As I write this I am listening to 1100s, CS-99aa's and CS-99a's. I would think a potential problem with running more than one pair is dilution. These all seem to live in harmony. None is way better than the other.

Its a bit harder to find speakers. They are more difficult to ship. So its best to find locally, but then your choice may be limited. Have to wait for opportunities.

Good news is that you have a nice set of speakers so don't have to rush into it. If you wait for something nice buy it and don't like it you can resell.

I'd like to get a 1500 - some other big Pioneer to compare.

what about a pair of magnepans SMGa s ??

would they be an improvement on the hpm s?? i understand they are very different but.. whats your opinions on this?

i ll sure not change my hpm s for something...
