Pioneer HPM-60 Recap

Hello all,

I just scored a pair of HPM-60s at my local thrift store. They are in good condition and sound good. I was thinking of recapping them due to their age. I haven't cracked them open to check the values on the caps yet.

My question is should I recap them? What type of maintenance do they need? Should I follow the HPM-100 recap guide posted here:

???

Thanks for your responses.

Recapping never hurts...that's for sure. I think I have done most all of the speakers I own with audible results that were pleasing. Parts Express' Dayton line of 1% poly caps are a reasonably priced line to use as is Solen. You should also clean the control pots with Deoxit or something comparable to make sure they have fluid control with no dropout in signal. I also typically change out the connectors on the speakers to accommodate banana style connectors but that's just for ease of swapping things around. YMMV on that part.
