What is best make of foam surround, for replacement? I also do not like idea of "touch placement", of surround for glue - in installment. This will be my first foam install, and find the precision of shim's, more favorable,vs other procedures. Including by feel for voice coil rubbing by touch. Also using signal to center, this still use's " touch " process to install. These are not exact as they should be. So cut dust Cap's, clean, examine voice coil, shim (proper), install proper best foam, made for these speaker's.
I checked price through this forum, and found pricy? Better grade? What gives?
Also what are best or recommended Cap's for cross over's? Where to purchase? Thanks from novice. Have listened to speakers, and they all work, hard to say what the sound is like without woofers fully functional.

Using a signal to center is not a "touch" process; if you do it correctly the voice coil is exactly centered in the gap, same as if you used shims. With some speakers it's the only way to do it.

Still it seem's to require to push down the surround with no true guidance. Free hand so to speake. Being new to this repair type work I do not know all process's. But having watched videos, see most of installments, that are used to install foam rubber surround's.

Just got back from church ... hmm, I've always used the Rick Cobb surround kits and had great luck with them on small and larger speakers. The real hard part is cleaning the frames well - get rid of all the residual glue. Also clean the back of the speaker cone so the surrounds glue to them well.

Play the test tones and be sure its centered well.

Took advise from member's, and the Cobb surrounds worked just fine. The HPM - 60's have great bass now. Now for crossovers, the sound is a little "fuzzy", and need to be changed out. From pictures I have come across, the caps are original to speakers. Played for 10 min, to listen, and adjust control's. Would like ideas on new Cap's, and best source of purchase. Have seen vids showing, playing new x/O's. From solens, to mundorf (they seem expensive, but sound superior). Do you have any other type of of cap, resistor combo, that would be suitable? Someone mentioned that the only Cap's that would work are the solens, because the mf is hard to match? If the mundorf were to be used, the crossover points would change.
