I'm finally done restoring my Pioneer M25 (replaced all electrolytics, all semi conductors in the power supplies, relays, trimmers, and the amp input pair, reapplied thermal grease). My goal is to pair it with a new (well, NOS at this point I suppose) pair of Focal Aria 936. This is a largish, 90dB efficient, 8 ohm rated speaker. However, measurements (https://www.stereophile.com/content/focal-aria-936-loudspeaker-measurements) show a fairly large dip below 4 ohm in the upper bass, where music has quite a bit of energy.
The M25 is a fairly overbuilt amp, and the manual instructs to set the current limiters around 150W for a 4 ohm load. Still, it's only rated 4 ohm, not 2. And while the 120W rating is a decent amount of power, it's not a monster.
So, does this seem safe, or should I move a bunch of furniture around and power these with my (much larger) Spec 2 instead?
