Pioneer or Sansui, which to keep?

My cabinet has runneth over and need to move a receiver to make room for other gear.

Which is the one to keep, Pioneer SX-880 or Sansui G6000? Both work fine and look good, no issues.

I landed a nice NAD 3020 and need to make room. Thanks.

That is a hard decision. Here's a list of my thoughts.

1. Sansui is more difficult to find
2. Pioneer has more power.
3. For me....that Sansui pairs uber easy.
4. Parts for the SX-880 can be a bear.
5. For me....the Pioneer is better looking....Sansui has higher "unusual appeal".
6. My gut tells me the Sansui will become more in demand as time goes on.
7. Condition of cosmetics is a huge thing at this level and higher.
8. How much of "The Collector" in you want's to build a smattering of "Best of League". (The Sansui is a poster child for where a non-monster maxes value/so is the Pioneer......each have nailed that and the next true jump is a two model leap to get into the diminishing return state of "Top".

For me it would be the Sansui......my ears hear "better" there.

If sound is the most important thing to you? Pick "The One".

Resale value will depend as much on cosmetics as function. If you want to recoup the most invested, the better cosmetics will help achieve that goal. On the other hand, you will be left with the lower rated one visually.

I have an SX-880 and a G3500. The G3500 does not impress me at all but given the following of this line I find it hard to believe that it may not be a malfunction. Just seems lite on the lower end. The 880 has the power and the looks but they are not trouble free. They have issues when impedance loads get to low and the relay circuits can be troublesome.

Me, I would keep the 880 but that is because it was my first and only new purchase in 1978. The real answer depends on how you will use it.
 
What brought you to this saga of having to make a choice versus keeping? If married? not the dreaded redecor demon? You explain them as being better than good.

Like a reliable and good sounding back up is always a good investment.. prices ain't getting any cheaper for good stuff.
 
You're new here. Which ever one you give up, one day someone will post about their unit and you will have sellers remorse seeing it again.

I'd say go with whichever one sounds best to your ears, but for me I would keep the Sansui.

I have an NAD 1020 same chassis, there not that big! :)

I have a Sansui 7070 also and it won't fit on my rack! So currently not in use! :(

But aside from the really crappy vinyl wrap... I luv it! And the numbers seem to lean towards keeping the Sansui "if" one has to go!

I'd keep all three myself but I don't have a lot of space...or sense! :)

Volume knobs have a notch and........? (I can pet my dog in the dark and seem to always come away with clean hands anyways.):scratch2::zoom:
