Pioneer PD-5700 CD player, some CD's play, squeals at others (video included)

I picked up this CD player several months ago as a potential replacement for my 6 disc changer (I prefer single disc), it will play some CD's just fine, but others it doesn't seem to recognize and just makes a high pitched squealing noise immediately when the CD is inserted.

This isn't just an intermittent issue, it's particular CD's that it will play 100% of the time and particular CD's it has NEVER played.

Is it just not a fan of Neil Young or Brian Setzer Orchestra, but cool with Eric Clapton and Days Of The New?

That is a common issue I used to have with these vintage CD players they were incredibly picky with CD's. A trick that seemed to work is take the CD that will not play put some dish washing soap on it scrub it with a dish cloth under warm water dry it off and than see if it will play. CD's are not harmed by washing like this.
 
The problem specifically with Pioneer players is the laser tracking. It tends to go out of adjustment. Look in a service manual to see where the tracking adjustment screw is, and adjust. It's typically done with a scope measuring the I wave, but I don't have a scope. I just made some fine adjustments to the screw while a disc was playing and found the sweet spot. It was easy in my case, as it was a changer-style player where the optic drive is upside-down.
