Pioneer Pd-f100 100 disc changer..trash?

Google tells me that they are a bear to work on and nobody wants them anyway. Does one just toss this? Pioneer PD-F100 100 disc changer. Multiple skips and pops. I would guess alignment but the manual makes it not look like something a slightly inclined layman could do.

It looks pretty dirty externally (lots of dust). If it's as dirty inside, it probably needs lens and read head mechanism cleaning.

Not sure if your 'disc cleaning process' does any of that.
