Pioneer PL-10 odd optional item

Good Morning. I have a PL-10 that has an item on it I have never seen before and has stumped everyone local. I know I have to clean this turntable up :). It is the small part to the left of the tone arm. There is nothing attached to it underneath. I was almost thinking it was a small oil well and you use the metal pin to dip and oil pivot points. I have looked at many turntables and haven't been able to find another. Oh, and it is not a stop for the tone arm, it does not swing that far.20240313_095158.jpg20240313_095218.jpg

It looks like the mounting base/pivot for a Dust Bug. Yours is missing the arm with the brush that tracks a few grooves ahead of the stylus.
 
I have a similar device which more than likely belonged to Dust Bug on my PL-12D, but it is on the other side.

Since this is so close to the tonearm, bill7621 might be right since I've never seen a dust bug mounted so close to the tonearm.
