Pioneer pl-112d

I'm setting up my first TT in 25 years.
I was given a pioneer pl-112d plugged it into a Marantz CD Receiver M-CR611. No sound. I need a phono stage. I borrowed one, Longdog LDA-PH1 but the sound is only coming thru one channel?. RCA lead is old so I've ordered a new one and also have a new phono stage on order Rega fono mini A2D. I'll update you when I hook that up.
Could the cartridge/stylus have anything to do with only one channel working? I don't know how old the Shure 75ED type 2 is but could that be the problem?
And can anyone recommend a budget replacement cartridge/stylus. I'm in UK.
Any help would be appreciated.

Depends on your depth of pocket ($$$$) and keeping with degree level of rest of the gear. The "Marantz" is a great brand, but over time, they too might need a tune-up.

And could be trouble with the Shure. The "75" was a solid stand-by in its day, but they get tired as well.

With only the "one channel" working, it could be the "old cord" iss needing to be replaced.

Get back after you have the new buys, in your attempt to narrow down the sound not coming through, and esp that the ground is good.

Thanks for the response. Today I changed the rca cables and *boom*, sound from two channels...Brilliant.. tomorrow I should receive my new phono stage and I've also ordered a new stylus for the Shure as I've no idea how old the I have is.
Next problem.
Now I can hear my albums I'm noticing the turntable seems to be not keeping a steady rotation, it sounds like it's a bit "wobbly". Will this be a simple matter of putting a new belt in? And is there a method of testing the speed and steadiness(!?) of the TT?
I'm not a tech guy as I've said and I'm hoping there's a fairly simple resolution to this.

Could just be a "new belt fix". (fingers crossed!)
