Pioneer PL-115D anti-skate issue

Is it an issue to have the anti-skate set to 1 - 1.5 when the tracking force is set to 2g? I have a few albums that the stylus skips in place when the anti-skate is set to the same as the tracking force. I have double checked the balance of the arm and setting of the tracking force. I have also adjusted and removed the lateral balance weight and arm (no noticable difference on or off). If this difference in setting between the two causes problems, how do I go about finding the reason for the anti-skate force difference? Is it an easy fix?

Thanks!

No, a different setting is not a problem. Setting it to the same number as the tracking force is really just a starting point from which you adjust and tweak as necessary.

The cause for the discrepancy is probably either that the dial on the counterweight is not accurate (not uncommon with this series of Pioneers) and/or that the anti-skate is not really calibrated to anything as it is just a linear spring. You might want to purchase a digital pocket scale (cheap on ebay) to achieve more accurate tracking force, but even then the anti-skate may end up different.
