I've been having speed problems with this table since I pulled out of storage about a year ago. It is properly balanced, platter not scraping anywhere or anything, and I have lubed with sewing machine oil where I can, and taken out the spindle and cleaned/oiled. Is the spindle supposed to keep spinning like a top when i spin it with my fingers? Mine does not-- it is smooth but will only turn if i am turning it.

I have used nail polish on the shaft (drive shaft that the belt goes on), to get it to 33 rpm but I often get kind of a dragging/warping in the sound as I dont think i am applying the polish uniformly enough and the meter will show numbers between say 33.1 and 33.9 as it spins around. I clean the nail polish off and it goes down to about 31 rpm (but is more consistant). After getting 2 wrong belts from amazon, i finally found a local retailer who seems to know what they are doing and he sold me the proper belt (23.6"). I put the new belt on and the performance is unchanged- it is pretty much exactly the same as the old belt.
Should I try boiling one of the belts (prob the old) as I have found some articles recommending? Does anyone have any other ideas I can try? I have not taken the motor itself apart to lube - a bit too much of an amateur I think and the auto return mechanism etc is all working perfectly I dont want to mess that up. Any insight appreciated
