Hi, I recently purchased a Pioneer PL-117D. I noticed that it was missing it's cam gear wheel (located underneath the platter) I found one and installed it. It seemed to set into it's slot properly with room to add the u shaped clip to secure it in place. I hand spun the cam and it only spun clockwise about a 1/4 turn then it stops. This seems odd to me, because every Pioneer TT I have worked on spins all the way around in it's cycle, and also that the entire outer edge of the cam has teeth. (with the exception of the 1/2" open slot). Does anyone out there have this turntable and, if so, does the cam spin all the way around by when you do it by hand? I'm trying to figure out what may be stopping it from going all the way around. By the way the start button turns the turntable on, but does not advance the tonearm to the platter. The stop does not work. The repeat clicks into place when pressed. I look forward to your replies and suggestions. Thanks!!

have you tried manually resetting it ?
turn the platter by hand and move the arm right over and see if it lifts itself off .

it doesn't seem to mention it in the service manual so maybe it wont work on that one .
it does however explain in detail how it is supposed work and how to adjust things .

Problem solved!! I was able to get the cam to set in properly. Because of the this models full auto functions, you can't just place the cam in place like you would with other Pioneer models. The cam synchronizes all the auto functions. I had to move some of the mechanism poles that connect with the bottom of the cam for it to set in correctly. It now spins fully counterclockwise and all auto functions work perfectly. Thanks guys for your input.!!

I feel your pain, brother. The 4:00 position one can only go in that “V” cutout spot. I’ve put the other two inside the grooves but it won’t stop. It WAS stopping before I took the dumb thing off to grease it. What I’m questioning is the white tab in the middle that moves when the stop button is pressed. I don’t THINK that goes in it but not sure. I can’t for the life of me figure out what is supposed to take place when you press stop. It flips that white tab so I feel that has to somehow go into the groove, otherwise there is nothing that initiates the gear to move.
