Pioneer PL-12D Right Channel Cutting Out

Hi all. I have a Pioneer PL-12D that was working beautifully until a couple weeks ago when I decided to open her up and replace the suspension foam (used magic eraser to great effect). Now when playing the turntable I will intermittently lose the right channel only during "Phono" playback (there is no problem on other outputs). If I tap on the deck next to the start/stop lever the channel will come back in for a bit, but then cut out again. Things I have done to fix/investigate:

1. Opened the TT back up and inspected all wires for good connection. All looked good.
2. Swapped headshells/cartridges. Problem persisted.
3. Sprayed deoxit onto the tonearm where the headshell makes contact and worked the "prongs" in and out. Problem persisted.

I would really appreciate guidance here. When the TT is playing well, it sounds great. And with the new foam there is an appropriate amount of suspension (happy the extreme springiness is gone). Thanks in advance.

Thanks @FONSguy . Could be, and I will open the receiver and clean it, but the issue started after I had opened up the turntable. All was well before.

Switch cables right to left at the receiver. If the problem moves to the left it's not the receiver.

Manipulate the cables where they exit the Pioneer. They get strained at the RCA plugs but also at the point they get bent at the back of the turntable. Visually they still can look fine but be damaged inside.

Hi all. As a show of appreciation for your time and above comments, I wanted to follow-up and let you know where the current issue stands with the right channel cutting out of my Pioneer PL-12D/Pioneer SX-727 combo. I did as was suggested above and swapped the TT's left/right channel cables and the issue did not move with the cable move to the left channel. To further confirm that all was well with the TT, I swapped out the SX-727 with an old Sherwood S-7310A and all is well. So obviously the problem was with the receiver (still don't understand why tapping the TT by the start/up/down lever would often times correct the issue unless it was one heck of a coincidence). I opened up the receiver, cleaned all the pots and switches (Deoxit D100 followed with G100), hooked the receiver up to test speakers, and all seems well. I'm going to keep it in the "shop" to keep testing it which will have the added benefit of giving the Sherwood some time in the sun (but I must admit that I do enjoy the Pioneer SX-727 a lot more than the Sherwood...).

The pines in the tone arm may not be in full contact withe the headshell pins.

Try using the headshell without the gasket.
