Pioneer PL-514 Cueing Noise

When I lift the cueing lever on my Pioneer PL-514, the tonearm does go up, but it makes a noise that is hard to describe - a sort of very short burping/gurgling sound. The tonearm drops slowly and smoothly. Does anyone know what might be causing the noise?

The cue mechanism uses a thick silicone fluid for damping the action. That's why it has that controlled descent. It's obviously doing its job but likely being sucked into the space around the cue "piston" as you raise it. Nothing to worry about.

Either that or you have a nasty little gremlin inside that you are disturbing. This should worry you.
