Pioneer PL 514 TT, sound cutting in and out on one side.

My Pioneer PL 514 TT has started to make the sound cut in and out, choppy like sound on the right side. I have verified it's the TT by hooking it up to another amp and I still get the same effect. I can move this sound to the left side by switching my red and white cables around also. Looking for any help with this.

Prime suspects are the "red and white cables".

Pop the head shell off and clean the contacts on either side. If that dosent fix it clean the pins where it plugs into the wires at beck of head shell.

Just told another guy in another thread to try this. Its a common problem with older, vintage tables and its a spot almost everyone forgets about.

Is it possible it could be the stylus? Had someone look at it and they thing that's a possibility? The cleaning of the connections didn't work.

Just want to follow up to this issue, I ordered a new stylus and that fixed the problem. So all in all it was a simple fix, thanks for all the help.

It's not the stylus. It might be the cartridge but that's highly unlikely. Other possibilities include the following:
1. dirty contacts in the tonearm collet, headshell or cartridge pins,
2. loose, broken or breaking headshell wire,
3. internal break in the interconnects (red and white cables),
4. broken tonearm wire,
5. "cold" or broken solder joint where the tonearm wires connect to the the circuit board.
6. "cold" or broken solder joint where the interconnects connect to the Molex plug.

2 and 3 are the most common.

If that did work try reinserting the old stylus and see if the issue reappears. It may have been an issue with stylus seating. As others have said not likely though.

I have seen instances where a magnet will have broken off the cantilever, so replacing the stylus would fix that problem.
However, you may have a veeeeeery small magnet stuck up inside your cartridge now.
