Pioneer Pl-518 Rubber mat

So after I purchased a Pioneer PL-518 off of ebay in great condition for $150 awhile back. Its just my luck after spending that money that I would run into this one at the local thrift store for under $10.
The only problem is it's missing the platter mat. I purchased one online that said it was for the pl-518 but it's way to big.
My question is, what other Pioneer PL series turntable might share the same platter mat as the pl-518? Or should consider an aftermarket?

That is the first place I checked and is the place I purchased the platter mat that was too big. They listed it as a PL-518 but after doing some homework I discovered it's for the PL-514.

You should contact ODP. They will likely try to help you out if they had it listed incorrectly. In any case, it's easy to make one from cork or rubbery shelf liner. I found these round sink mats at a dollar store recently and they do an ok job too!

Thanks Monty. I haven't contacted ODP yet, but I don't see it as being a problem. I have emailed them in the past and they are very quick to respond. Your sink mat looks great! It's crazy what you can find at the $1 store.

You can make one out of cork pretty easily. Target sells 4-packs of 14" X 14" cork squares for $10.00.

I'm using one on a PL-514. It is much quieter than the stock mat.

I didn't get mine at Target. (I think I found it at a Goodwill.) You'll want to make sure what you get is an appropriate thickness and Target doesn't say how thick theirs is.

Not really. First it's 1/4" thick which would likely cause VTA problems with a PL-518, which has a mat thickness of slightly less than 3/16", and which has no tonearm height adjustment. Second, at 12" in diameter, it would still need trimming since the PL-518 mat is something under 11-1/2" in diameter. Second you still need to make a center hole, something that's easier to do accurately before establishing the circumference.

Actually I think it's thinner than a quarter-inch because half of that is a plastic backing layer that can be removed. Otherwise, totally agree
