Pioneer PL-518

Hello all. I am having some trouble trying to figure out how I can adjust the Pioneer PL-518 arm height. I do not see it anywhere in the manual, nor can I find any screws near the arm center point.

I have tried searching the forum here for previous inquiries, but a search for "PL-518" gives me no results, which seems very odd.

I am trying to use an Ortofon OMB14 that i recently acquired, but it makes the arm not horizontal. The stylus would drag across the record if I let it get to auto return.

I don't believe it is adjustable in height. Any chance you can use a thinner mat?
 
If its dragging the needle when using auto return, it has nothing to do with arm height. It's because your cue arm is too low. You can turn the screw to raise it up.
You want it to be usually 8mm off the record.

Thanks Jason, that isn't exactly my problem. The arm is not horizontal with the new cart.

By my rough estimates, the new Ortofon OMB 14 is about 10mm taller than the Ortofon VMS 3E currently installed. If I could raise the back of the arm, it could be horizontal again.

Well if the VTA is not optimum you can use a spacer or thinker mat, but your problem with dragging needle is the cue lifter being too low.
 
thanks again Jason. I understand your point, but I meant that with the VTA being so off, I wouldn't even bother playing anything on it.

A side note, I do not see how to adjust the cue lifter. There is no screw to be found and no mention of it in the manual. I am familiar with this as I have done it on my Technics SL-D2.
