Picked up a new turntable this week! Pioneer PL-520, seems like a bit of an odd duck. Cleaned up the speed pots and she holds steady no problem. Interestingly enough it came with a Shure M44-7 cartridge. Once I have it cleaned up I’ll likely order a Orotfon Red for it. Any recommendations on fixing up the dust cover? It’s pretty scuffed up and a little yellowed.

interesting layout. I've had good results with Meguiars ultimate black plastic restorer on a trashed thorens dustcover.

I love a shure 44-7. Listening to one now. You could try a Jico Stylus. Or sell the 44-7 and fund an ortofon Red or maybe Blue as they are going for silly money now.

I own one of these. I've had it since it was new and I'll never consider getting rid of it. Fantastic turntable with a unique arm. I have a Pickering XSV3000 on mine. The yellow in the dust cover will likely never come out, even using the peroxide/oxy-clean method. The yellow is the bromine released in the plastic. You can remove the surface yellow, but it doesn't get to the yellowing inside the plastic, which you can see because it is clear. Myself, I think it's worth the cost of a new dust cover.

I've heard really good things about the table itself, looking forward to getting it back up and running. Where do you suggest sourcing a new dust cover from?

What year were these made? I heard they were only made for one year. Since you got it new, thought you might remember.
