Pioneer PL 530 and PC 50

Just picked up a mint Pioneer PL 530 with PC 50 cartridge. The combo I'm told has less than 25 hours on it. While I'm not sure on the mileage, the TT and cart is mint, however the PC 50 has a bent stylus. Is this cartridge worth getting a styli for? If so, where is the best place to find one? Thanks.

It's a very nice turntable!

lpgear has a stylus, however you could and probably should get a better cart. That tonearm can accept a wide variety of cartridges. The usual recommendations go with it, AT440mla, Shure M97, V15 II III IV/Jico, an MC, Grado's are iffy due to the possibility of hum.

Did you find this one one San Diego CL and came down to Carlsbad from HB to pick it up Monday night? If so, you and I were competing for the same gear. I contacted the seller 45 minutes after his first listing - but you must have been faster:sigh:! Congratulations - if not me getting to the local gear first, it'd better be another AK'er:thmbsp:!

I believe you also might have purchased a Sansui 881 receiver from the same seller. Is it as nice as the TT was presented to be?

Yes that was me. I would not have normally driven that far for these components, however I was on my way to S.D. anyway for business and I called the seller right after the Bose speakers and asked about the Sansui and Pioneer stuff for sale as well. He said someone local (Carmel Valley?) was on the way and to call him back in 45 mins to see if the gear was still available, which I did. It took me a good 2.5 hours from my first call to actually get down there and make the deal and apparently the first guy never made it. Someone local could have easily grabbed this stuff instead of me. The wouldn't budge on the price.

Other than the bent stylus on the TT, the gear is mint and well taken care of. The 881 is going to a friend and the TT will join my HPM 100/SPEC setup. Better an AK score than an outsider, I agree!
