Pioneer PL-530 and Technics SL-J2

The 530 is old. Dusty. Some dents and scratches. Got it used.
What is best way to proceed in cleaning it (cosmetically) and checking it on a basic level to see how it runs?
Also, I have a Technics SL-J2. I am original owner. Was very lightly used (CDs came along and the LPs were played less, then most sold or donated. I know, dumb.) It was in fine working order but was in storage for a number of years. I took it out about 6 years ago and did not work in terms of the arm moving out and down onto the record when triggered. So, it has not been used since. Any ideas on that issue?
Note: I am not the type to open up stuff and replace stuff. Just cleaning and, maybe a minor adjustment for a non IT or engineering/hardware type.
So, if these cannot be gotten to work with just a little TLC, for the Pioneer: a micro fiber dust cloth, canned air, moist 100% cotton cloth (vinyl wood grain cleaning), plexi restorer (the clear top is scratched—as they always are), and/or a few bucks in chemicals or parts for either; I will sell them to someone with the expertise who can bring them back to life or use for parts. But I would like to get them working… if I can.
Where does one sell equipment like this, should the day come? Restored or for parts, presumably?
I am in DC, MD, N.VA on up region USA but also travel to S. New England, if there is a good place to sell up there or on way in MD, PA, NJ, NY, CT.
Thanks!

The rail that the tonearm slides across is probably dirty in the SL-J2. Common problem with linear trackers, but not a difficult fix.
