Pioneer PL-530 tonearm issues

My Pioneer PL-530 TT has tonearm issues.:tears: I tried adjusting the screw which is suppost to correct the auto touchdown point with no positive results. My platter works perfect, but the tonearm seems really stiff. It is so stiff that it doesn't go further than a quarter inch from tonearm rest/clamp in auto mode. If I push it through the stiff spot going to the center of the record, it frees up about a half inch from the point of auto stop on the record.:scratch2: Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! this is similar to an issue a pl-530 i'm looking at has. an comments on ease of remedy.

A friend of mine had a similar problem. It turned out the bearings were binding because the adjustment nut had moved. Get a manual the mechanism on these is complicated. Also take lots of pictures while removing the parts necessary to get to the nut.
